Installation and Configuration:

Setting up TeamAgenda/FileMaker integration involves several steps. You must:

Install the TeamAgenda/FileMaker Plug-ins

The TeamAgenda/FileMaker plug-ins manage communication between TeamAgenda's TA-Server program and FileMaker Pro. They are installed using the TeamAgenda Installer program.

One copy of the plug-in must be present in every copy of FileMaker Pro that will access TeamAgenda data.

Two versions of the plug-in are provided, one for the copy of FileMaker that is hosting your database files, and the other for the FileMaker clients. The TeamAgenda Server plug-in must be installed once only, on the copy of FileMaker Pro that will be hosting the FileMaker database files. The TeamAgenda Client plug-in must be installed on each copy of FileMaker Pro that will access the database files as "guests", i.e., clients.

Important Note: Either the Server or Client version of the plug-in should be installed on each copy of FileMaker. Never install both versions of the plug-in on the same copy of FileMaker.

Enable FileMaker integration in TA-Server

FileMaker integration must be turned on in TA-Server.

1) In TA-Server for Windows 95/98 or Macintosh, choose Configure FileMaker Pro... from the Configuration menu;

or

In Windows NT/2000, open the TA-Server control panel, then choose the FileMaker tab.

2) Check "Enable FileMaker Pro access".

3) Enter a database ID number. (The recommended default number is 123456.)

"Allow deletion of FileMaker contacts" should normally be left unchecked

4) Click OK.

You must restart TA-Server for your changes to be effective.

Modify your existing FileMaker files

The simplest way to implement TeamAgenda/FileMaker integration, if you are starting from scratch, is to begin with one of the sample templates provided. This approach has the advantage that you are beginning with a fully working solution, and can simply modify the sample FileMaker files to correspond to your needs.

If you already manage contacts using FileMaker, you can modify your existing FileMaker database to work with TeamAgenda by adding the required fields and scripts to your existing contacts file, using our sample files as a guide. Another, easier and quicker, approach is to use the special “bridge” templates provided.

For complete instructions, see the TeamAgenda/FileMaker Integration Manual provided in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF). The manual explains how FileMaker integration works and provides complete installation and configuration instructions.
